1. The prominent Spanish guitarist Miguel Trapaga has commissioned Ananda Sukarlan for a new piece for guitar solo to be toured by him in many countries in Asia, which goes as far to Japan and New Zealand this year. Ananda has responded with his first piece for guitar solo, "The 5 Lovers of Drupadi" which will be the second of his "Drupadi" trilogy (no. 1, "The Birth of Drupadi" is for a 5-octave marimba, and no.3 is "The Humiliation of Drupadi" for 2 pianos).

This guitar solo piece will receive its world premiere in Segovia, Spain on the 10th of March 2010 at 20.30 p.m. It will take place at Teatro Juan Bravo, in a concert patronized by the Philharmonic Society of Segovia. Miguel Trapaga's Asian & New Zealand tour will start in June this year.

"The 5 Lovers of Drupadi" has a special place in the guitar repertoire, since it is using a scordatura technique (retuning 3 strings of the guitar) and it is unique in its use of Javanese pentatonic scale which is not known before in the guitar repertoire. Fingerings and other details will be completed after the World Premiere next March and the score will be available at the guitarist's website at www.migueltrapaga.com, but if you would like to obtain it now please send an email to us, Chendra Panatan at This email address is being protected from spambots.
