The Yayasan Musik Sastra Indonesia was founded on February 10th, 2009 by (in alphabetical order) :

Mrs. Pia Alisjahbana,

Mr. Chendra Panatan,

Mr. Dedi Panigoro

Mr. Ananda Sukarlan.


Pia Alisjahbana

Pia Alisjahbana, graduated from the English Department Faculty of Letters, University of Indonesia, as a Drs. (equivalent to a MA degree) in 1959.  Starting her career as a lecturer at the English Department, Faculty of Letters, University of Indonesia, and later became the Head of the English Department. She was the founder of the American Studies Graduate Program at UI and she also founded the American Studies Center UI. From 1973 till 1985 she became the Executive Secretary of the Consortium of Letters and Philosophy, Ministry of Education and cultures and gives advice to the Ministry of Culture and Education, with regard to the ten Faculty of Letters all over Indonesia.

Chendra Effendy Panatan

chendraChendra Effendy Panatan started his dance training at Sumber Cipta Ballet – Jakarta and studied furthermore at Ecola de la Dance – Geneva, Lines Contemporary Ballet, San Francisco – USA, Concordia University, Montreal – Canada, Limon Institute, NYC – USA and Internationale Sommerakademie des Tanzes in Koln, Germany.

Ananda Sukarlan

anandaCritics have proclaimed Ananda Sukarlan as “One of the world’s leading pianists who has been at the forefront of championing new piano music” (Sydney Morning Herald), and as “One of the greatest interpreters of music of today” (ABC, Spain) for this composer & pianist  (b. June 10, 1968) who is now enjoying a solid career with concerts and recordings that could be heard all over the world.
