1. Yes, we are excited to tell you about Ananda's new activity as a radio anchor in his show "Eric & Ananda Classical Eve" at Delta FM 99,1 every Sunday evening at 8-10 p.m West Indonesia time. Ananda will always broadcast LIVE from his house in the Valley of Cantabria, Spain, joined by the co-host, Indonesian trumpeter & conductor Eric Awuy at the Delta FM Studio in Jakarta. It can be heard all over the planet by live internet streaming. You just have to know the time difference with the place you are at, and click "streaming" at www.deltafmjakarta.com .
"Eric & Ananda Classical Eve" is a classical music talkshow and will have its premiere broadcast while Ananda is still in Jakarta on the 2nd of January, which also marks the birthday of Sir Michael Tippett (1905-1998), one of the most important "discoverer" of Ananda's talent in Europe. The great British composer introduced Ananda at the BBC Radio 3 back in 1993 after Ananda, then aged only 24, recorded Tippett's First Piano Sonata and in the words of Sir Michael he "was taken aback by the freshness and vitality of the playing. Mr. Sukarlan's interpretation gave it a strength and poetry that elevated it onto a new plane. Technically, his playing was impeccable and his tone-control and variety of colour quite admirable." Since then Ananda has performed the complete Tippett's 4 piano sonatas around the world.
Eric & Ananda's new radio program will open with that very recording of Ananda playing Tippett Sonata no.1. It will be followed by a recording of selections from the successful concert by the MUSICASA vocalists performing an all-Ananda concert of vocal works accompanied by the composer himself in Jakarta last November and closes by inviting a guest star. The guest star who receives the honour for this premiere broadcast will be Edith Widayani, winner of Ananda Sukarlan Award National Piano Competition 2010. The concert "Ananda Sukarlan plays Ananda Sukarlan" will take place at Auditorium Bank Indonesia, Jl. Thamrin 2, on Wednesday January 12th at 8 p.m. Info & reservation thru Chendra at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 0818 891038
