Chance to Tune-In Internationally for the Music of Indonesian Virtuoso Ananda Sukarlan.
(11/1/2010) The compositions of Indonesian piano virtuoso Ananda Sukarlan will be broadcast from Louisville, Kentucky WUOL 90.5 FM classical radio and broadcast worldwide by Internet radio on Wednesday, November 17, 2010.
Born in Jakarta, but relocating as a teen to the U.S.A. and Europe to pursue a musical education, Sukarlan now makes his home in Spain from where he operates a very busy international performance and recording career.
He has performed in many overseas festivals and with symphony orchestras and ensembles in Berlin and Rotterdam and with the great symphony orchestras of Spain, Paris and Wellington. He is the only Indonesian listed in the book "2000 Outstanding Musicians of the 20th Century" and "The International Who's Who in Music." Sukarlan's discography includes 14 CDs covering the complete piano works of Santiago Lanchares, David del Puerto, Jesus Rueda, Toru Takemitsu, Peter Sculthorpe, Amir Pasaribu, Trisutji Kamal, Theo Loevendie and original compositions by Sukarlan.
In August 2010 Ananda Sularlan held his triumphant premiere recital in Bali.

Ananda Sukarlan's new song-cycle for tenor & piano will be premiered in Louisville, USA, on November 17, 2010, on WUOL 90.5 FM Classical Radio and simulcast on the Internet to the world.
"3 S Dalam Cinta" (3 S in love) is a song-cycle in Indonesian consisting of 3 love songs for tenor and piano based on poems by Sitor Situmorang and Sapardi Djoko Damono. The second selection, "Pria yang (pergi) jauh" (The Man Who Traveled Far) was written in 2009 as a farewell song to Farman Purnama, who was leaving to study Holland. Ananda has added 2 songs to the program "Malam Kebumen" (A Night in Kebumen) and "Surat Kertas Hijau (A Letter on Green Paper).
The broadcasted world premiere from Louisville will be performed live by tenor Samuel Tandei and pianist Ruthanne Fulton. They will complete the program with other Ananda's other songs for medium-high voice "Dalam Sakit" (In Sickness) dedicated those who have died of AIDS, " Meninggalkan Kandang" (Leaving the Cage) in memory of Prof. Dr. Fuad Hassan, "Oktava Tanggal Tua", and "Kama" based on poems written in jail by Ilham Malayu.
